Benefits of NLIS

There are many benefits in ordering a search through the National Land Information Service. Speed, efficiency, reliability and choice are among the primary reasons for choosing to source your searches through NLIS.

Speed
Harnessing the efficiencies of electronic connectivity, NLIS is able to consistently return the majority of search requests within minutes. The actual turnaround time will vary depending on which search product is ordered. The fastest NLIS CON29 has been returned in a blistering 7 minutes and there are many local authorities which return LLC1 and CON29 searches within a day. Currently, the average turnaround time for all local authorities is just over 5 days (May 2010), this is 3.5 days faster than the average turnaround time of local authority hard copy (paper based) searches, which is 8.7days (May 2010).

Efficiency
No more paper forms to order and complete, cheques to write, envelopes to stuff, postage to pay, follow-up phone calls to make. Order one or multiple searches at the click of a button and pay automatically by direct debit. You can also double-check search fees before you order, eliminating the payment anomalies that can often delay search returns. The NLIS channel interface is able to integrate directly into the majority of case management and finance systems used by conveyancers, thereby providing added value services and further efficiency savings.

Reliability
Searches which are ordered via NLIS are all provided by the authoritative sources and guaranteed as such, so both you and your clients can rely on the information they contain. The integration of large scale mapping and addressing ensures that the location of each search request is accurately defined so that the number of rejected searches is minimised.

Choice
NLIS searches are available from any of the NLIS Licensed Channels, all of which offer a variety of products and slightly different approaches to their service offerings.
